Lifeforce; A Gift from the Schoharie Stream

This site-specific installation, the first of the Lifeforce series along waterways, was built along the Schoharie Stream at Art Awareness in Lexington, NY. It was created with dead trees and other indigenous elements formed by the force of water during seasonal floods. As such it focused on nature's ephemeral cycles and the issue of regeneration.  

Half way through construction this piece washed away by Hurricane Bertha in July, 1996. It was immediately rebuilt and remained on site until it was washed away again in a subsequent fall storm. The process of its demise and rebirth was documented for the indoor gallery.
