Tapestry Design

During my college years, in the 70's, through my graduate years in the early 80's, I worked as a free-lance tapestry and needlework designer. I developed annual lines of original designs, to be stitched or woven, as well as custom designs for individuals and businesses. My own line, signed in those days, Suxsan, was inspired from a wide range of sources that I researched. Custom designs varied enormously depending on the interests and the needs of my clients. All themes and requests were explored with relish. After a few years I became interested in diverse, cross-cultural designs inspired by research in museums and libraries. From 1979-80 I lived in Europe for a year where I sold my tapestry designs in numerous cities. Living in Holland for the longest period I was hired to design a cultural series for high quality, mass production. All of my other tapestry designs were one of a kind originals.
