Lunar Mandala

This mandala environment was part of a one day performance, entitled Lunar Opera, created by Pauline Oliveros, for the Lincoln Center Plaza in NYC, the summer of  2000.  At risk youth from Poughkeepsie, NY and cancer patients from Kingston, NY created simulated stained glass mandala layers that became part of the centerpiece sculpture. The trees of Damrosh Park became the middle ground of the mandala environment. A lattice fence, through which viewers wove fabrics and other fibers, became the exterior boundary of the environment.
