A Spirit's Sphere

9x7x5’ Lexan, branches, roots, metalsmith components, paint, etc. 2007

This sculpture is part of a series of explorations into the fragility of life and living with uncertainty. It honors my deceased best friend, incorporating her metalsmith components, as well as ephemeral natural and man-made elements. It speaks of renewal through the transmigration of soul; in this case a kind of swirling energy. It’s spherical structure evokes the metamorphosis of her dynamic spirit. In time this sculpture and others will lead to full gallery and outdoor installations offering multiple viewing perspectives.
